Adelene E. Jann, MD, FAHS, is a Headache Medicine specialist in New York City. Dr. Jann spent over a decade in academic medicine as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Neurology treating headache patients at Mount Sinai and most recently at NYU Langone Health. She was the program director for the Headache Medicine fellowship at both institutions. She is board certified in Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology as well as in Headache Medicine by the United Council of Neurologic Subspecialties. She has been recognized for her work and dedication to the Headache Medicine field with the award of Fellow status from the American Headache Society (FAHS).
Dr. Jann obtained her BA in neuroscience at the Johns Hopkins University. She conducted research studies on the peripheral mechanisms of pain at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and attended medical school at University of Maryland. Following neurology residency at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, she completed her Headache Medicine fellowship at the Headache Institute at Mount Sinai West (Roosevelt Hospital). Dr. Jann pursued advanced training and certification in acupuncture at Harvard Medical School and integrates this treatment option into patient care.
Dr. Jann is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the International Headache Society, and the American Headache Society where she actively serves on the Complementary Integrative Medicine section. She reviews articles for scientific journals such as Headache and Cephalalgia, and has been awarded research grants to study various headache disorders. She has published research papers, and has served as an expert contributor for magazines, podcasts, and news articles. She has been an invited speaker at local, regional, and national conferences. Dr. Jann has been a recipient of the SuperDoctors Rising Stars of New York Award multiple times.
Dr. Jann treats a variety of headache and facial pain disorders including chronic daily headaches, migraine headaches, tension-type headaches, and the trigeminal autonomic cephalalgias such as cluster headaches. She performs procedures such as peripheral nerve blocks, trigger point injections, and onabotulinumtoxinA (Botox) injections. She is also licensed to perform acupuncture. Dr. Jann works closely with her patients to develop a specialized treatment plan tailored to each individual.
